GET CONNECTED ALEXANDER REZNIKOV COLLECTION PRESENTED AT THE ART MOSCOW 2009

For Alexander Reznikov, the Russian real-estate developer, the passion to collect art began with purchases of works by the second Russian avant-garde. Parallel to that, he focused his interest on young artists both from Russia and Austria, his adoptive country. The contemporary art from the two countries, which is comprised in his collection, will now be made accessible to the public in exhibitions and permanent loans, as well as in the form of donations to art institutions. In the spring of 2009 the collection was shown for the first time in Austria at the Künstlerhaus k/haus in Vienna.

Quite separate from his personal preferences as an art collector, he launched the ALEXANDER REZNIKOV AWARD for artists below the age of 35, in cooperation with artmagazine.cc, the online magazine, and Galerie Ernst Hilger / hilger contemporary, Vienna. The prize is awarded in the form of three purchases for a total amount of 30,000 euros and was awarded for the first time in 2008.

The works selected from the ALEXANDER REZNIKOV COLLECTION, which are shown at the Art Moscow 2009, represent an encounter between young Russian and Austrian art and Russian Non-Conformists GET CONNECTED.
