New York, September 23, 2014 —The Art Show 2015 announces the participating galleries for the 27th edition of America’s foremost and longest running fine art fair. Seventy-two of the nation’s leading art dealers, including six first-time exhibitors, will present thoughtfully curated solo, two-person and thematic exhibitions at New York’s historic Park Avenue Armory. Organized by the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) to benefit Henry Street Settlement, The Art Show will take place March 4 through March 8, 2015, with a Gala Preview on March 3.
Dorsey Waxter, ADAA’s President, remarks on the qualities that distinguish The Art Show among art fairs, “Given the proliferation of art fairs, ADAA’s fair remains unique. Whether it is a solo or two-person show, or a thematic presentation, each booth at The Art Show is a finely curated exhibition. ADAA dealers conceive and install significant exhibits at our fair and use it as an opportunity to advance their gallery’s vision.”
“The ADAA broke new ground when it created The Art Show in New York City 27 years ago,” adds Art Show Chairman, Adam Sheffer. “Today, The Art Show continues its illustrious tradition as the city’s longest running art fair. Visitors from around the world are able to connect with our esteemed members, view extraordinary presentations and acquire exceptional works of art.” The 2015 Art Show leads a contingent of art fairs around New York City such as The Armory Show, VOLTA and SCOPE, which altake place during the same week.
The Art Show’s considered, curated exhibitions present a dynamic selection of artworks—juxtaposing modern masters and cutting edge contemporary works in exhibitions from galleries all over the country. The 2015 Art Show will include a number of groundbreaking solo exhibitions, such as: Wade Guyton at Petzel Gallery, Allan Stone Projects’ survey of paintings and works on paper by John Graham, “Limerence” works by Tracey Emin at Lehmann Maupin, and rare historical works by Nam June Paik at Carl Solway Gallery. The anticipated thematic group shows include “Mirror/Mirror,” a two gallery exhibition of self portraits presented by Peter Freeman, Inc. and Fraenkel Gallery, “Winold Reiss and Jazz Age Modernism” at Hirschl & Adler Galleries and “The Responsive Eye at 50,” Op-Art at Maxwell Davidson Gallery. ADAA also welcomes six first time exhibiting galleries, Thomas Colville Fine Art, Greg Kucera Gallery, Dominique Lévy Gallery, Marc Selwyn Fine Art, Fredric Snitzer Gallery, and Meredith Ward Fine Art.
Daily admission to The Art Show from March 4 – 8, and its Gala Preview on March 3, 2015, benefits Henry Street Settlement, one of New York City’s leading social service agencies responding to a spectrum of community needs. For the fourth year, global art insurance specialist, AXA Art Americas Corporation will serve as Lead Partner of The Art Show.
