Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami reign over Miami Art Week 2023

SPECTRUM MIAMI AND RED DOT MIAMI HONOR THE LATEST IN CLASSIC AND CONTEMPORARY ART

The only two fairs under one roof during Miami Art Week resonated with industry insiders, high-end collectors and the world’s media

Miami, FL – December 22nd, 2023:  Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami celebrated an international showcase in classic, contemporary and fine art during Miami Art Week at Mana Wynwood Convention Center, December 6--10, with a five-day global presentation that was the talk of the town throughout the art world and international press core.

The annual Opening Night Preview took place on Wednesday, December 6, presented by Pommery Champagne and Empress 1908 Gin. Thousands of the world’s most affluent art dealers, collectors, artists, gallery owners, curators and art enthusiasts attended the preview for a first look at the inspirational works by the more than 1,000 artists showcased by over 280 exhibitors from 27 countries around the world. In addition to visiting two of the longest running fairs during Miami Art Week, avid art enthusiasts and industry leaders returned to enjoy [SOLO], highlighting established and independent emerging artists.  This year's fairs also welcomed Shark Tank's Daymond John and Latino pop sensation, Shakira, walking the isles as avid collectors.

“This year’s fairs were a real testament to how resilient and strong the art world has been,” says Eric Smith, president of Redwood Art Group. “Our exhibitors reported excellent sales and attendance by their most loyal contingent of collectors, who traveled especially to see the latest work and the industry’s new and emerging talent. Both fairs sold out exhibition space six months in advance and with this year’s celebrity attendance, it demonstrates how popular and cutting-edge Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami have become.  We’d like to thank all of our sponsors and partners for their generosity, and to everyone who attended the fairs over the five days for an amazingly successful Miami Art Week. We look forward to an equally successful Artexpo New York in April next year.”

This year’s program featured an extensive series of daily activities for attendees, that included the Spotlight Program, a focused look at several cutting-edge galleries and artists chosen by the Redwood Art Group selection committee; Art Labs, a series of outstanding projects by leading galleries, art institutions, and art collectives within the fair; Meet the Artists and Live Demonstrations, presenting an interactive experience—allowing attendees to get up-close-and-personal with the artists; and The Discoveries Collection, – selections of artwork chosen by the Spectrum Miami curatorial team that make up a group of amazing discoveries throughout the fair, each priced at $3,000 or less.

Highlights from the 13th edition of Spectrum Miami include:

On entering the Lobby, guests were greeted by an elegant display by Empress Gin, at which guests throughout the week were able to sample the botanical array of flavors while enjoying lively tunes by Miami's favorite DJ Joey Paradis
Spectrum FOCUS — an annual Jason Perez Art exhibit was an art experience unto itself, with a special presentation of outsider art, street art, pop art and urban art, complete with live painting demonstrations by some of today's most innovative creatives.
Save The Chimps unveiled the newest Wild Planet Collection by talented ape artists at the Save The Chimps sanctuary, in collaboration with pop icons The B-52's. Collectors and fans clamored to take one of these unique pieces home — including the painting Roam by chimp artist Vanilla and the B-52's Fred Schneider which sold for $10,000.
SOLO artist Tina Ngo showcased her unique works by demonstrating her tape art techniques throughout the fair, selling several pieces throughout the week.

Artists and galleries received special honors as recipients of this year’s awards, as follows:

Spotlight Award: Carolina Vargas Reis, Monica Arche, Justin Ruby, Kushiani Jayasinha and Ashley Joan Art
