Erró helps himself both to art history and everyday culture and its iconic images as though standing in front of a lavish buffet and piling the ingredients of a sheer unimaginable cascade of images onto his plate. The artist doesn’t distinguish between “high” art and everyday life. This relates him to many pop artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Tom Wesselmann, James Rosenquist, etc.. Erró’s paintings are characterized by image structuring that has an affinity to cartoons. A few monumental figures break out of it in dynamic movement, threatening to explode the framework of the cartoon cadre.His acrylic pictures have the same glossy and smooth surface as comics. The artist eschews materiality, a pastose quality and imprecise paint application in favour of the personal touch. Everything is treated the same, as if printed, anonymous, so as to shift the subject and content into central focus.

Erró bedient sich sowohl der Kunstgeschichte als auch der Alltagskultur und ihren Bildikonen, so als ob er vor einem reichhaltigen Buffet stehen und sich die Ingredienzien der schier unfassbaren Bilderflut auf seinen Teller aufladen würde. Der Künstler unterscheidet nicht zwischen hoher Kunst und Alltagsleben. Das macht ihn zu einem Verwandten mancher Pop Art Künstler, wie zum Beispiel Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Tom Wesselmann oder James Rosenquist. Errós Gemälde sind geprägt von einem Bildaufbau, der mit dem der Cartoon-Bilder verwandt ist. Ein paar monumentale Figuren in dynamischer Bewegung, die den Rahmen des Cartoonkaders zu sprängen drohen, aus ihm ausbrechen. In der Oberflächenbeschaffenheit sind seine Acrylbilder glatt wie Comics. Materialität, Pastosität und ein ungenauer Farbauftrag zugunsten der persönlichen Handschrift vermeidet der Künstler. Alles wird gleich behandelt, wie gedruckt, anonym, um das Sujet und den Inhalt in das Zentrum zu rücken.

Since 1990 lichterloh has been dealing with Austrian and international design of the 20th Century, with a special emphasis on the period from the twenties to the seventies. The 700 m2 showrooms near the museum district allow for a generous presentation of the individual pieces. Well-established design is juxtaposed with products of unknown designers. What is important to us is the search for the “perfect” form, for the poetry in the design. Completed by Design Tradition, Austrian design is categorized in the international context, catalogued and presented abroad. As a member of Wien Products lichterloh is participating in fairs in Europe, the US and Asia. Lichterloh also produces its own furniture line and is the exclusive distributor for various international design re-editions.

lichterloh vermittelt seit 1990 österreichisches und internationales Design des 20. Jahrhunderts, mit besonderem Fokus 20iger Jahre bis 70iger Jahre. Die Schauräume, nahe dem Museumsquartier, umfassen 700 m2 und erlauben eine sehr großzügige Präsentation der ausgewählten Stücke. Sowohl "well-known" Design als auch Produkte gänzlich unbekannter Entwerfer werden gegenübergestellt. Wichtig dabei ist die Suche nach der "perfekten" Form, der Poesie im Entwurf. Mit der ergänzenden Seite Design Tradition werden österreichische Entwürfe im internationalen Kontext kategorisiert, katalogisiert und auf ausländischer Bühne präsentiert. Als Mitglied der Wien Products besucht lichterloh Messen im europäischen Raum, den USA und Asien und rundet mit der eigenen Möbellinie und dem Exklusivvertrieb spezieller internationaler Reeditionen das Spektrum im Kunsthandel ab.
