Messe27.04.2023 - 30.04.2023
We’re one week away from NYIABF '23 – April 27 through 30 – and not only will we pack Park Avenue Armory with nearly 200 exhibitors, we’ve got a whole slate of events happening all weekend long. Every event is free with admission, so snag your fair tickets and be sure to pencil these in.
ABAA Connect Thursday, April 27 5:00 - 8:00 P.M.
New Yorkers, in case you hadn’t heard: supporting our local libraries is more important than it’s been in the past ten years. We’re especially excited to partner with New York Public Library (NYPL) by inviting their curators to reserve items for purchase by generous donors during our opening night celebration. Check out the list and, if you’re able, consider making one of these fascinating objects free and accessible for all New Yorkers to enjoy.
NYIABF Presents
Saturday, April 29, 10:00 A.M. - 8:30 P.M.
Our annual event series that uncovers the rare book industry and amplifies novel ideas about literature, print, and material culture happens all day Saturday. We’ve got talks from Allie Alvis of Type Punch Matrix (booth A19), Josh Mann of B&B Rare Books (booth B6) and Professor Laura Helton of the University of Delaware, plus a couple chances to mix and mingle with the booksellers. Check out the full event descriptions, and don’t forget your notebooks!
Discovery Day
Sunday, April 30, 1:00 - 3:00 P.M.
Ever wonder what it’s like to be on Antiques Roadshow? Here’s your chance for a test run: A long-standing NYIABF tradition, Discovery Day invites fairgoers to get up to five of their possessions appraised by our expert exhibitors. Now might be the time to finally clean out that storage unit and see what you can find….
NYIABF is officially sanctioned by the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers. NYIABF is produced and managed by Sanford L. Smith + Associates.
The Armory’s 55,000 square foot drill hall, reminiscent of the original Grand Central Depot and the great train sheds of Europe, remains one of the largest unobstructed spaces of its kind in New York. A marvel of engineering in its time, it was designed by Regiment veteran and architect Charles W. Clinton, later a partner of Clinton & Russell, architects of the Apthorp Apartments and the famed, now demolished, Astor Hotel.
The Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America's (ABAA) New York International Antiquarian Book Fair (NYIABF), produced and managed by Sanford L. Smith + Associates, has become the world's leading antiquarian book fair in its 60+ years of existence. Once a year, exhibitors from across the world convene at New York City's historic Park Avenue Armory, presenting a trove of materials including rare books, maps, illuminated manuscripts, fine bindings, illustrations, historical documents, photographs, prints, memorabilia, and ephemera. The fair’s specialties encompass art, design, popular culture, science, medicine, literature, history, gastronomy, fashion, music, philosophy, and much more.
This book fair is officially sanctioned by the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers. This means that the consumer can rely upon the experience and professionalism of participating dealers and the authenticity of the items available for purchase. Simply stated, all books, manuscripts and related material have been carefully examined for completeness and bibliographic accuracy.
