BRAFA confirms that a routine check was carried out by the SPF Economy on Monday morning, 27 January. This is a standard procedure which, incidentally, takes place regularly at the various trade fairs in Belgium and abroad. BRAFA has always collaborated with the various administrative departments and has a completely transparent relationship with them.

Some documents have effectively been subject to a simple precautionary attachment pending further information. It is important to note that none of the items seized were on display at BRAFA. Following the procedure on in-house expertise, these items were stored in a reserved area not accessible to the public or exhibitors for the duration of the show. This procedure for admitting items is in force at all international fairs and is based as much on an examination of authenticity as on the guarantee of provenance, as well as on their intrinsic artistic quality.

BRAFA regrets the publication of gallery names that are not involved in the ongoing checks (Aaron, Desmet, Cybele, De Jonckheere), as well as the use of illustrations from other galleries that are entirely irrelevant to the subject matter of the item. BRAFA regrets the poor image and ideas that may arise from the publication of incorrect information, in the case of usual and routine procedures, which has been ongoing for many years.
