ART NOCTURNE KNOCKE 2008
-
Presse09.08.2008 - 17.08.2008
Art Nocturne Knocke introduces furniture from the Netherlands, England, France, Italy and Flanders, and this from the haute époque up to the art nouveau and art deco era, whilst modern and contemporary design also gets its place. There are statues form the Middle Ages up to now, while the silver and glass collections on offer are simply dazzling. With regards to paintings, the art lover at the fair is presented with an overview covering centuries, starting with the Old Masters and ending with the current masters.
Lovers and collectors of more exotic objects can also find their fancy. Chinese pottery remains much wanted, which is also the case for old engravings and Eastern archaeology. In brief, objects that you as a motivated visitor will have interest in, you will certainly find them at the fair.
Future vision
For years, Art Nocturne Knocke has been surrounded by the atmosphere of an event. The fair has grown into a complete event that does not just meet the current trends, but rather helps to determine the new trends. Visiting Art Nocturne Knocke as a viewer or as a buyer is opting for an image of innovation and excellence.
Together with the exhibitors and the organisers, Art Nocturne Knocke wants to introduce a refreshing change to the Belgian art and antique market. That is why the aim is a perfect symbiosis between antique and contemporary art, clearly taking into account the latest trends in these fields. That is why we see that leading members of the Belgian Chamber of Antique Dealers participate in the fair, as well as established players from the prestigious TEFAF fair and Art Fair Sculpture Highlights in Maastricht.
Notable for the 33rd edition of Art Nocturne Knocke is also the leading level of gallery owners of contemporary and modern art. This year, no less than seven countries are represented, including France, the Netherlands, Germany, England, Italy, and the United States.
15th Sculpture Link Knokke
For the 15th time already, the art and antique fair in the Scharpoord Cultural Centre is supported on the streets by the Sculpture Link sculpture walk, which stretches from Het Zoute to Scharpoord.
This year, the honour is given to internationally recognised artist Christian Lapie and brought to us by the Gallery Mary-Ann Manning with branches in Reims (France) and Houston (the United States). There will be monumental (up to 7 metres high) mysterious human figures in oak wood, the trees for which were carefully selected and personally sculpted by the artist himself. A sculpture walk that will make you think and enjoy - not to be missed. Not only does Lapie's work receive a lot of international interest, the city of Bruges has recently also acquired a contemporary installation by Lapie, which already been given a wonderful spot at the Potterierei.

Those who, apart from the aesthetically inspired being, also want to treat their inner being can visit the Culture Café at Scharpoord, where the kitchen will remain open especially for the fair visitors until 9pm; the restaurant until 10pm.
