Sotheby’s June Sales of Impressionist & Modern Art Conclude with £123.3m Series Total

Sculpture performed very strongly, with twenty-one lots selling for a combined total of £2.4 million (est. £1.3 – 1.9 million) led by Auguste Rodin’s Eternel Printemps, second état, 3ème reduction selling for £305,000. Other highlights that performed well against estimate include a bronze sculpture by Dame Barbara Hepworth, Pierced Round Form, which sold for £155,000 (est. £30,000 – 40,000).
Twelve lots from a Private Swedish Collection were 100% sold, fetching a combined total of £2.1 million (est. £1 – 1.4 million). These were highlighted by a dynamic canvas by Fernand Léger, as Composition sur fond rouge sold for £485,000 (est. £200,000-300,000).
The sale achieved a world auction record for the artist Moïse Kisling at £473,000.
