And so, how many truths exist? Some reinforce each other, others collide. Schachter stoically embraces them and chooses the path of amor fati in the face of the chaotic circularity of time: «to want nothing different, neither behind nor in front of you, for all eternity.»5 Through his paintings, the artist harmonises the multifaceted and toxic truths of our existence. Just as Mithridatism6 wants to achieve addiction to poisons, Nietzsche again reminds us that «we have art in order not to die of the truth.»7

Adrian Schachter’s art is an antidote to a constellation of mystical, historical and social truths that dance around the circular time of eternal return. Drops of rough poison that the artist exorcises and carefully distils and then spreads on the canvas. Visual stimuli that increase our awareness and make us less melancholic. In a word, stronger.
